I got stuck into stripping all of the dining room as well as the lounge room.
At first glance it seems OK, but you will see why I always strip a room to the bare studs.
The kitche wall is nearly 15 millimetres out of plumb at the entry - just another headache to sort out.
I have no idea as to why the original carpenters chiselled out the header like this.
As for using bent timber as filler strips, I'm like what tha farq!!!
The shiny bits are the carpenters using mis-shapen timber and then tryihng to plane it down to try and plumb up the wall - without success I might add.
Just an indicator as to how much they gouged out of the studs to try and make the wall look somewhat plumb.
Notice the bent filler stud???
This is inexcusable - another electrical farq up. Not sure how the sparky was going mount the face plate to the wall plate when he has 2 of the 3 sets of wires not going through the center of the wall plate.
I'll give him his dues, he did have it screwed to the wall though - screwed being the operative word
